About the Continent- AFRICA


The second largest continent on Earth stretching 11,700,000 square miles, which is shared by 55 nations including Madagascar and all island groups. Africa lies south of Europe flanked by Atlantic Ocean on the west, Indian Oceans on the southeast, Red Sea on the northeast and Mediterranean Sea on the north. The continent houses an estimated population of 743,000,000. The climate of the continent ranges from tropical to sub-arctic on high peaks. Africa is divided into six general climatic regions, in which half of the northern regions primarily experience arid temperature.

According to Wikipedia.com, Africa perhaps boasts the world’s largest combination of density and range of freedom of wild animal populations from herbivores (e.g. deer, elephants and camels) to carnivores like lions, cheetahs and hyenas. It is also the home to different jungle species and marine life. Truly, Africa is rich in flora and fauna.

Furthermore, its pleasant climate is complemented with breathtaking panoramas. It boasts with stunning tourist destinations wherein offering a wide range of travel escapades from wine tasting, touring around the Great Pyramids of Egypt to cruising down the Nile River. You can also do check out the bustling African metropolises and shop for trendy and unique items. For more enthralling activities, do experience riding a camel in the African desert or silently spy a leopard in the wild.


Religion

The religion in the continent of Africa is very diverse. However, most Africans practiced Christianity or Islam. These two religions existed in the continent for over millennia. Both religions are wide-spread in the continent wherein according to 2000 estimations 45% of Africa’s population are Christians and 40.6% are Muslims.

On the other hand, there are also Africans who are adherent to African traditional religions or sometimes known as African tribal religions, which refer to the variety of religions indigenous to the continent. Other religions being practiced in the continent are Hinduism and Judaism.


African

The word African people refers to the people who dwell in Africa or people whose ancestry comes from indigenous inhabitants of Africa. The African continent houses different ethnicity of people. Each group has its own unique culture and rich history. Among the major ethnic groups living in the continent are Bantu, Berber, Dinka, Fulani, Hausa, Khoikhoi and Manding. These ethic groups have its own distinct language, customs, arts, way of life, history and religion. Majority of the people in Africa live in rural life but the continent is flourishing at a fast pace. Around one-third of the population now resides in metropolises. Most of them are living similarly to most people in the developed world. They had computers at home with an access to Internet, educated in prestigious schools in the continent and achieved higher education in their chosen profession. One should erase the judgment that African people do not have any expertise with the modern living.
